One Piece TCG Colours Explained: How to Choose Your First Leader

Start with one Leader card, then build around it. A legal One Piece Card Game deck uses exactly one Leader card, a 50-card main deck, and a 10-card DON!! deck. The main deck contains Character, Event, and Stage cards.

This order matters because your Leader decides which colours are legal in the main deck. Buying cards first can leave you with cards that cannot be used in the deck you finally choose.

Only cards whose colour is included on the Leader card can normally be added to the main deck. A card effect can replace the normal deck-construction rule, but beginners should follow the standard colour rule unless the card text clearly says otherwise.

The Leader is more than a colour marker. Official card records show a Leader's Life value, Power, colour, type, and effect. These details influence the cards and interactions you should consider.

One Piece Card Game has six colours: red, green, blue, purple, black, and yellow. A card may have more than one colour. A multicolour card is treated as every colour it possesses.

This means a blue and yellow Leader can use cards that are blue, yellow, or both, subject to the normal deck rules. Always check the colours printed on the card rather than judging from its artwork, character, or product name.

Colour legality tells you which cards may enter the deck. It does not, by itself, tell you how the deck should be played. The Leader effect, card types, supported character types, and interactions in the card pool also matter.

The official blue Jinbe recipe is presented as an aggressive deck built around Jinbe's Leader effect, Fish-Man and Merfolk cards, hand management, and DON!! distribution. This shows why two decks should not be judged by colour alone.

The official card list can be filtered by all six colours, Multicolor, and card type, including Leader, Character, Stage, and Event. Use these filters to confirm what exists in a colour and to find Leaders before you plan purchases.

Official recommended-deck pages connect a Leader concept to a complete card list, an early-to-late game plan, and the products used for that deck. Read the full recipe first, then compare its required cards with the products available to you.

Before spending money, write down the exact Leader card number and its legal colours. Then check the official recipe and count the cards you already own. The normal deck-construction limit is no more than four cards with the same card number.

For Indian buyers, compare the complete list with the stock and pricing available from your seller. If a product contains many cards outside your Leader's colours, it may not be the best first purchase for your deck.

If you are unsure, shortlist two or three Leaders and compare their official recipes. Ask which Leader effect sounds enjoyable, which support cards are available, and which complete deck fits your budget. The best first choice is a legal, obtainable deck that you understand well enough to practise.

Once you choose, buy towards that recipe. You can change Leaders later, but cards from one colour package may not transfer to another Leader if the colours or strategy do not match.
